Intermountain Health, Lutheran Replacement Hospital

This was a 208-bed replacement hospital for Lutheran Medical Center. DSB was hired to be the full-service art consultant. We were charged with providing an authentic art package that was about Wheatridge and the surrounding communities as well as incorporate as many local artists as possible. The over 600 piece art package did just that. Over 90% of the artwork was created by Colorado artists. Also, the kinetic suspended sculpture adorning the main lobby was created by a Denver artists. Additionally, the commissioned the exterior artist, had a touching connection to the hospital. His life was saved at Lutheran Hospital after suffering a stroke. We were also asked to design the history and donor wall that adorns the sun lit walls in the lobby.

One of the successes of the project was coordination with the HDR team (architecture) and general contractor. Many meetings were held to coordinate the details of the suspended sculpture, donor wall, and exterior sculpture to discuss lighting and how to secure the artwork.

All installations occurred on time and the product on budget. Artwork has the ability to tell a story and the story of the Lutheran art package is one of inspiration, celebration, and connection with the community.
